In a moment, I will tell you everything you need to know about Ugmonk.

But, first, a story...

Once upon a time, a fisherman taught a banker a lesson that would change his life.

The banker was vacationing in a small coastal village when a fisherman docked beside him with a beautiful catch of tuna. The banker complimented him and asked how long it took.

"Just a little while," replied the fisherman.

The banker asked why he didn't stay out longer and catch more.

"Because I have enough to support my family," the fisherman replied. "I enjoy sleeping late, playing with my children, taking afternoon naps with my wife, and strolling into the village in the evenings to sip wine and play guitar with my friends."

The banker scoffed. "Spend more time fishing. Buy a bigger boat. Then several boats. Eventually you'll have a fleet, move to a big city, build a real business."

"But then what?" asked the fisherman.

"Then you announce an IPO, sell your stock, become a millionaire."

"But then what?" asked the fisherman, again.

"Then you retire. Move to a small coastal village — sleep late, spend time with your family, sip wine with friends in the evenings."

The fisherman smiled, winked, threw the tuna over his shoulder, and carried his catch into town.

Ugmonk exists to be that wink.

Hi. I'm Jeff.

I'm a designer by trade and an entrepreneur by accident.

I started Ugmonk in 2008 because I couldn't find simple, well-made things. No investors. No exit strategy. Just a conviction that good design should outlast trends, and that the best products are the ones you never feel the need to replace.

Seventeen years later, that conviction remains true. In a world drowning in notifications and digital noise, the most intentional thing you can do is slow down, pick up a pen, and think on paper.

That's what Analog is for.

A simple card-based system for capturing what matters, planning your day, and staying present. No app. No battery. No algorithm deciding what you see next. Just you, a pen, and a card.

We're a small 4-person team in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. We take months (sometimes years) getting each product right. We obsess over materials, tolerances, and the feeling of a thing in your hand. We ship everything ourselves and reply directly to every email.
